Good phone for T-Mobile?

hey folks. as you can probably tell, i'm a newbie here. i've been lurking around but am a little overwhelmed by the knowledge being tossed around here, so i'm hoping a thread will do instead

my Cingular contract just ran out and i'm looking to jump ship. after having read a lot of peoples' opinions here about Cingular, i know i'm not alone!

i'm looking to move to T-Mobile for service. i'd like to get a flip phone that has a decent camera (1.3 megapixel or better) and allows you to upload and use your own mp3s for music and for ringtones. i'd prefer a phone that uses external memory like a microSD card. some T-mobile kid looking for a commission was trying to push the Nokia 6133 on me earlier today, but from what i've read about it (on CNET), the SD slot is poorly placed (kinda like the Ngage...) and you can't use your own mp3s for ringtones on it. i'd assume the type of phone i'm looking for already has bluetooth, but USB cable connectivity would also be nice.

in any event, i could use some help in getting away from Cingular and getting a good phone with T-mo. thanks!

Make sure you have good coverage where you will be using the phone (where you live, work, travel and play). Don't just assume that since you had Cingular coverage, you will also have T-Mo. Both Cingular and Verizon have much better coverage that T-Mo and Sprint.

T-mobile has the worst line-up of phones, unless you want to spend ALOT of money on an unlocked phone and thier service is really bad (atleast in my area). But if you do get t-mobile, of coarse your first choice should be the sidekick III.

Well I'm a happy 6133 owner; true, out of the box it won't use MP3's for ringtones but this can be remedied by having it flashed with 6131 (UK version) software, which also enables java web access and custom browser settings (likewise defunct out of box). I would just say look at a 6131 except that T-Mo will give you a better deal on a 6133 w/ new service, and flashing's only $35 plus shipping from highly recommended iunlock.com. Can't comment much on the microSD slot placement b/c I'm still waiting on my card, but I know it's in some outta-the-way place on the phone- not an issue for me as I don't plan on swapping cards much or ever once I get the sucker in. It also has bluetooth and a usb adapter available for it (not included), and a lotta other neat features. My only gripe is the voice recognition- for me it's next to useless, YMMV.
