Hi all... I wonder if anyone knows of a good/free or cheaply priced bit of soft that allows me to paind/draw with reasonable smoothness. I definately want an airbrush tool and good colour selection capability - OS5 compatable.

Does anyone know of the best thing to suit???

Suggestions would be much appreciated - thanks.

:)

I believe the name of the freeware is "Draw It" and that's pretty good although import/export of bmp's is difficult or impossible.

The BEST is TealPaint, which allows for screengrabs as well (that's what I use most, in fact) - handy for sending someone a "shot" of what's happening on your handheld, or for your own records in remembering settings pages, etc.

The PC Editor for TealPaint is terrific and allows for 300k bmp to be made from the handheld "picture." These can then be reduced to 60-75k jpsgs, and sent as attachments to developers, etc.

As far as actual "painting," it's got more tools than any other, does layers, exports to Card, several levels of undo, and allows for 4-16bit depth. It is inexpensive for what it does and a trial is available.

They've recently completely redone TealPaint for Version 6, and still are adding new "tweaks" on their beta page. I've used it for 2 years. Excellent app!!

Thanks a lot Paul - really appreciate the tip - I tried it.

However, as good as it is it doesnt have a proper airbrush (instead a speckle / stipple brish and it works in low res).

On my old Sony Eric' P800 I had a great bit of Freeware that allowed smooth pixel-free pictures to be created... surely there must be something out there for Palm?

To get to your point directly: TealPaint is now in Beta 6.38 and they've added tons of stuff over the LAST 2 months; I'll mention the airbrush thing on their forum (if you sign up for a yahoo account you can post too . . . multiple requests go a long way!)

I'll be talking to Tealpoint later today regarding TealMover -- 1.93 was solid, they've added a lot to it and now it's "glitching" and I'm upset -- that was my first Teal app. They trying to build in too much, if you ask me - the whole idea of TealMover is that it "move," and twice it's glitched on moving something to the SD Card and mis-stating it's in "ROM." 1.93 didn't do that.

I haven't found anything as good as TealPaint but then all I'm really interested in is ability to sketch detailed maps, export images to the desktop, and do screen-grabs (also for export). I've got a "forced day off" today, so I'll do some checking for you; I'll be "surfing Palm stuff" anyway. I'll PM you if I find anything.

In the meantime, it's easier to get an improvement out of TealPoint than to find everything from scratch; think about emailing or "entering their forum" and requesting what you need SPECIFICALLY - they really are great at listening and performing. Now would be perfect, because the new beta hasn't become "final."
