Good Metal Bands?

Lamb of God is a terrible excuse for a Metal band. Definately the single most generic metal band out there. There is nothing different about them, they play unfocused, uninspired music. Not to mention they have one of the worst vocalists in metal.

I'll give you some from many different genres

Cannibal Corpse (Death Metal)
Anthrax (Speed/Thrash Metal)
My Dying Bride (Doom Metal)
Pantheist (Funeral Doom Metal)
Acid Reign (Thrash Metal)
Black Sabbath (Proto-Doom/Heavy Metal)
Iron Maiden (Heavy Metal)
Judas Priest (heavy Metal)
Elvenking (Viking Metal)
Finntroll (Viking Metal)
Mayhem (Black Metal)
Satyricon (Black Metal)
Anorexia Nervosa (black metal)
Macabre (Death Metal)
Morbid Angel (death metal)
Napalm Death (Grindcore/Death Metal)
Extreme Noise Terror (Grindcore)
Carcass (Grindcore/Death metal)
Cattle Decapitation (Grindcore)

That's enough for you to get started. If you want more I'll give them to you.

Cryptopsy were good on Blasphemies and None So Vile, but went to shit afterwarRAB. Hopefully they'll go back to producing decent metal now Lord wyrm is back.

A somewhat similar band is Yattering, there along the same lines but have a much more chaotic sound. Also Gorgasm aren't a million miles away from Cryptopsy's sound.

I feel I should re-iterate that Saprogenic - The wet sounRAB of flesh on concrete is the best brutal DM album I've ever heard, give it a listen if you can find it.

BanRAB such as Lamb of god and Killswitch should be used for space-based nuclear warhead testing, along with all there fans.

They are, but Ion dissonance and The end make them look like a bunch of retarded monkey's mashing there instruments with each others spleens.

DEP have thrown shit at the audience on at least one occassion, reading festival 2002, the lead guy took a crap into a plastic bag and threw it into the crowd. After a while it made it's way back onto the stage, at which point the lead guy (forgot his name) proceeded to smear it all over himself. Nice!

Racer X has a few songs that are very technical. try "technical difficulty", actually. good song. And dream theater is always one of the best for that sort of thing.

And whatever you do, don't listen to Lamb of God... they are absolute shit. most black/death metal isn't very good, especially if you appreciate technical skill.

Try

Agalloch (especially "Pale Folklore" album"
Agent Steel
In Extremo
Ensiferum
Norther
Wintersun
Cruachan (Celtic/Black - at least their first album is mostly black metal, and quite good at that. The later albums are very folky, but still excellent none-the-less.)
ArthemesiA

Type O is badass man!! Love everything they've done.

Opeth=Progressive Melodic Death Metal

That's what I've always heard them classified as.

holy shit thats a first for me, someone telling me that they dont like Killswitch Engage, I havent met anyone to tell me they dislike KSE.

Lamb of God a great band, and they're vocalist is like no other, therefor i like him. Saw them live once and they blew me away.

First of all, there are tons of people who don't like Killswitch. And for good reason, they're just another melodic hardcore band with bland lyrics and a pension for terrible structures.

On to Lamb of God, who in fact, is not a very good band skill-wise. They play the most generic and least genuine variety of metal with their sub-par lyrics and cookie-cutter song structures. To go along with their intensely boorish style of play, they have probably one of the worst metal vocalists out there; the man cannot even pull off a single convincing growl without some kind of break in his voice, or is that his charm? That he can't manage to pull off something even Pantera vocalist, Phil Anselmo could.

Dream Theater (Also Try Petrucci's solo album "Suspended Animation")
Megadeth
Avenged Sevenfold (Waking the Fallen & City of Evil)
Atreyu (The Curse)
As I Lay Dying
Shadows Fall
Children of Bodom
Arch Enemy
Soilwork
Slipknot (Only Vol. 3 the subliminal verses....prior CRAB suck ass)
Symphony X (touring with Megadeth and Dream Theater
