Good Hacker / Conspiracy Films

its been about 10 years since i saw that on sky movies, remember enjoying it tho.

don't think anyones mentioned The Insider, i liked that.. as well as Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. i like factual stuff more than fiction a lot of the time, so both of those appealed to me.

i watched both Sneakers and Netforce last night :)

both good movies, i liked the way Netforce was ment to be set in the year 2005.

Sneakers was pretty funny, that River guy from Signs looks very very different from what i have seen him in before, maybe its because he was pretty young in the movie.

both movies were very enjoyable, Netforce i would give 7/10 and Sneakers would get 8/10

i am going to watch Enemy of the State later today, i need some sleep now after staying up all night, i watched Live WWE Raw and then this two movies so i am pooped :p

my Bank Balance looks like its going to take another blow when i order some more movies :D

at the moment i am just hooked on watching movies, i am always on the Sky Movie channels looking for a decent movie :)

Thanks for the help with the movies guys :)

Please don't listen to whoever said Mercury Rising is a good film. Bruce Willis and kiRAB doesn't work. Someone should actually tell M. Night and his fans that this is very much the case. However grounbreaking you think you are, you have to actually produce a good film to back it up.

Antitrust is a festering turd of a film too.

If you want realism (they are films though!) then there are plenty of examples here, but I still find the best for entertainment and quality value is Hackers. It's funny, clever at points, and has good actors before they went nuts, or crap. Hacker films that take themselves too seriously suck.

As mentioned already, 'Sneakers', 'The Game' and 'Enemy Of The State' are all great modern hacker/conspiracy films.

There's also Tom Clancy's 'Net-Force' which is kinda average, but one you might like (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158423/).

You could also add 'Johnny Mnemonic' and 'Lawnmower Man 2' to your list if you are completely desperate or into awful Hacker films as well as the good 'uns ;) :D :)

I think any film that tries to make a serious story built around computers is always let down by the shitty graphics they use on the pcs. I understand that they can't all afford to pay microsoft for the privilege or using windows, but pretty much everyone knows that a pc screen looks nothing like what is shown in films.

Conspiracy Films;

JFK (1991)
The GrounRABtar Conspiracy (1972)
The Parallax View (1974)
The Conversation (1974)
Soylent Green (1973) *yes, we all know what it is.
Shadow Conspiracy (1997)
Capricorn One (1978)
Clear and Present Danger (1994) *has a consipiracy in it somewhere
Enemy of the State (1998)

That should be enough to get you started

finally imdb have removed that horrible (aka Hackers 2: Operation Takedown (Bootleg) ) title they used to have up. i've moaned for years about that, maybe finally now people will stop referring to that film as a sequel to hackers.

its also propaganda of the highest level, and should NOT be taken for fact. its a disgrace the movie was even made, and typical miramax crap.

watch Freedom Downtime for the real story behind mitnick and Takedown, from 2600 magazines Emmanuel GolRABtein. a much better watch.

got Wargames ;) and i did enjoy AntiTrust aswell.

dunno why its just pretty good, its nothing spectacular but its a good watch :)

Freedom Downtime is great tho.

It has a rating of 6/10 on IMDB, which suggests its a decent movie.

Movies are all about opinions, imagiine how boring it would be if we all rated films similarly.
