GOOD covers of BAD songs

Not heard it, surely ZZ Top's version cant be surpassed, they totally made it their own.

EDIT: I checked out the Dead Kennedys version & I like it, but it still doesnt surpass ZZ Tops cover.
 
Honestly, I think the Metallica version is fuckin' clown shoes (no offense), and the original just sounRAB like whining from a guy that's living a dream. "Oh no. I have to tour around the world and make millions of dollars and bang strange women from all nationalities. Oh, poor me."

Other than that, Chris Cornell's cover of "Billie Jean" is rather impressive, the way he took a pop ballad and turned it into a smoky, bluesy and dark song which articulates the story a lot better.
 
Hey, I got a chance to give that cover of Hogweed.... it was actually pretty darn good!!! I am suprised at how the vocals sounded very gabriel - esque.... whether the singer was trying to sound that way or not, I dunno... but i have read in many places that the very unique phrasing and chord structure of early Genesis makes any singer sound a little bit like Gabriel... early critics after his departure from the band actually attacked Phil Collins for sounding too Gabriel like, which in the context of where their careers lked to, is kinda funny to read...
