Ooh! For a 13-year old.. Hmm if you are wise and smart then read Pride&Prejudice written by Jane Austin Or Twilight By Stephenie Meyer
 
The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer is amazing, but if vampires aren't your cup of tea, I'd go with Eragon by Christopher Paolini.

boy or girl? a series of unfortunate events are really fun to read. it's quite gripping. as well as eragon, which is nothing like the movie! it's a really great book!
