Good/bad celebrity voice over work in animation/Hollywood

It also helps that one of them (Brad Garrett) has been doing voice work since Transformers G1 *As Trypticon* and Hulk Hogan's Rock N' Wrestling *As the Hulkster himself for the animated portions* from way back in the 80's. ;)

Bonus points also because those were his first two roles.

What I like about Ratatouille is that even though Janeane Garofalo is in it voicing a character, she's voicing a character completely unlike anything she's previously done and sounds nothing like her. She actually "acts" with the role and does a refreshing departure from her type. And then you have the usual in-house Pixar staff doing other characters as well such as Lou Romano. Ian Holm and Peter O'Toole who are prestigious classic talents also get to play strong characters instead of just extraneous window dressing like a lot of the Astro Boy characters which had a lot of big time stars or actors playing subpar characters.

What I love about Pixar is how they get tremendous performances from people who are TOTALLY new to voice acting. The guy who played Linguini in Ratatouille was what, an animator I think? And he was great, as great as any celebrity actor would've been. Then you've got Sarah Vowell in Incredibles. Yeah, she already has a distinctive voice, but she still took that character of Violet and made it her own. She conveyed that character's insecurity and transformation and blossoming so well, it really won me over on Violet in general.

And Mater is BY FAR the best performance of Larry the Cable Guy's career. I wanted to hate Mater but I just couldn't, Larry did such a great job of delivering those lines and my eyes practically teared up at the "I knewed I made a good choice when I picked you as my friend" lines.

So yeah, Pixar is definitely the best at casting voices for animated feature films. Disney is second best, they've had a few stumbles but have been pitch-perfect for the most part (they knocked Tangled out of the park with Moore, Levi, and Murphy, the PERFECT choices for that roles though I am still a bit curious to hear how Grey Delisle would've done as Gothel).

Aside from Vincent Price and Jason Alexander. I've seen a few people that are big shot movie starts that have proven themselves to be good voice actors and I'll name them. Including sorting them out.

Good
Paul Giamatti- I was rather surprised to see that in El Superbeasto that he provided the voice of Dr.Satan, he was in character with it. Although I was expecting a different voice. The voice that he provides for Frankie in The Goon trailer is spot on as well.

Anyone who's voice acted for Pixar- Pixar is very good at this. I like the fact that they pick the actor's personality that is suitable for the character, rather than a big name for the cash.

Johnny Depp- Depp has also proven himself to be a good voice actor. I was impressed with his role as Rango.

I dont remember if I liked Robin William's voice acting, I'd have to watch ferngully and Aladdin again just to be sure of it.

Bad

Dreamworks's picks for voice actors- The people who are annoyed with this know what I'm talking about. Dreamworks in my own view picks their actors like a random card in a deck that was tossed out on a table. Most of the time they are not even in character, like Brad Pitt as Sinbad.

Normal voices uses for characters- Patrick Wartburn is probably the worst example of this. Everything he voices is not in character(other than Kronk). Whoever uses a normal voice in animation is not even trying. The only time in my own view it was put to good use was Joe Murray's actual voice for the character Ralph Bighead. Also, Rosario Dawson as velvet von black is just a major pain.
