Good amp for a Rockford Fosgate T1?

i have been looking at buying a Rockford Fosgate P3 or T1 12, but i don't know how much of a difference it would be to buy the T1 for $100 more. would it be worth it? either way, i think i am going to get the Kenwood KAC-9104D which is rated at 500rms at 4 ohms, 900 rms at 2 ohms, and >900rms at 1 ohm.

i obviously would get a 2 ohm sub if i got the p3 and wire it up to 4 so i would match the 500 from the amp, but would it be safe to wire a T1 to either 2 or 1 ohm and run it atleast 100rms over? as far as i know, rockford fosgate subs are well built and should be able to handle the power, but i dont want to trash a brand new sub. i am buying a temporary box that is very close to the recommended specs for both subs, but i will eventually be building my own to match whichever sub i end up getting.

also, would it be safe to wire the t1 at 4 ohms and only run it off of 500 rms? would underpowering it like that do anything bad to it?

thanks for any help you can give me
