Good All-Around Phone

My contract with AT&T Formerly Cingular Wireless ends in a month and I am looking through possible phones to upgrade to with my new contract. I *must* stay with AT&T because I get a free calling plan with them through my company. I want a "cool" phone that has a music player, good camera, and has good call quality and battery life. Bluetooth would be nice and AD2P even nicer. 3G would be a bonus but since I do not live in a 3G area, I would not be able to use it plus I do not plan to do any data-related things on the phone. I was hoping to get an unbranded phone but since I'm upgrading, it is not cost effective. I was looking at the Sony Ericsson w800i and currently think it is the best choice for me. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, what would it take to physically unbrand the Sony Ericsson w810i? Also, does it support custom faceplates and/or custom software not purchased from AT&T? Lastly, I was hoping to hook up the phone to my car's stereo so I can listen to my MP3s on the road but I do not know if it is feasable. I own a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT with all factory components and the factory cd-player does not include a tape player or a audio input jack. There is an auxilery audio connector but I do not want to have to buy a fancy converter nor do I want to take my stereo out of the console to install an auxilery device. Does anyone have any ideas? I was hoping that maybe Sony Ericsson has a car charger with a FM transmitter built-in or a more elegant solution, does anyone know?

Thanks for your time.

SE W810i is a good choice. You can use the mp3 player with a standard FM transmitter, although you will notice a decrease in sound quality.

If you have an AUX in on your deck already, which I am not sure because I am confused about your original post, you could just plug it in via a 3.5mm cable that can be found at Radio Shack for about 5-8 bucks. You just use the supplied headphone adapter that comes with the phone, and plug that in to the 3.5mm to the AUX in, and you are set.

Sorry for the confusion, I can't do that. My stereo's AUX jack is a non-universal jack designed for a Chrysler XM radio reciever. The only main reason I wanted an unbranded phone is because I like how the unbranded phone has the Walkman logo on the bottom plus I don't want to own a phone with orange Jack when AT&T phases out orange or Jack if they do. Also, I am not sure since I have not seen one in person nor via images but if it says Cingular on the back, I was especially hoping to avoid that. But, I can deal with it if I have to. I would buy unbranded but money is a concern to me and I'd much rather get the phone upgrade discount from Cingular. I was hoping to take advantage of some deal where I could get the w810i for free but I cannot find a deal that I could use (I'm upgrading a single line in a FamilyTalk plan which I think can only be done through a Cingular store which as far as I know the cheapest is $80). Main reason I wanted to find it for free (or even as Amazon.com has it - free + $75 rebate) is so I can afford to get a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo ($75 online) to use with the phone. If anyone has any advice for me, I'd be thrilled.

OK, So I've pretty much made up my mind on getting the Sony Ericsson W810i. I heard that some have hissing problems but I hope mine won't since it will be new and if it does I guess I can try upgrading the Accoustics driver (that won't void my waranty will it?).

However, I need help getting a good price on it. At Cingular it's currently $70 after a mail-in rebate of $100. I was hoping I could find cheaper because I am a full-time college student and can't afford much plus I want to get a car charger, 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo card, and possibly a belt clip and/or screen protector. I was planning on also getting a Bluetooth handsfree headset but it is not too important to me. I was looking on Wirefly and it said I could get the phone and then after rebate I'd had made $25 plus it comes with a Bluetooth headset. Does this work in renewing a single line in a FamilyTalk plan? Also, if not or even if it is, do you know of any other or better deals? I really appreciate all the help and I'd be estatic if I could get a reply as soon as possible. Thanks!

My fiance has Cingular/ATT and asked me to help her pick out a new phone, as she's out of contract...boy was I disappointed when I saw the selection of identical phones, refurbs, etc. People say T-Mo has crappy phones, I was just shocked to see that others do too.

i would still go for W810 cause mem stick duo is cheaper than M2
but then again K550 is newer technology.... so its up to the end user..
