GM has 460,000 UAW workers and 200,000 Salaried on Pensions and full health benefits (salaried are going Medicare in Jan.) Now, they have 180,000 UAW world wide producing product soon to go down to 92,000 by GM's own projection while the ranks of retirees will swell to nearly 1 Million. The increase in foriegn competion will rise tremendously as the world auto production out of US will cut prices to bone.

How in the world is GM going to survive this calamity as fewer and fewer UAW workers who produce saleable product decrease even further in ranks, given they have shrunk already by more than 50% over the last 10 years.

GM is going bankrup to reorganize and nothing more in the long run. NO amount of government "loan" can help them. Who that has an accounting experience agrees that its impossible to stay the Current GM with such great retiree, and even given GM rids of the health costs to UAW?????
Yak, yes, then GONE is the current GM as ive posted.

The writing on the wall need not include statistics.

Did the Big 3 start losing market share before the current financial meltdown?

Would a Big 3 product be any better after the bailout than it was before?

In light of the Big 3's well-publicized woes, would you be more or less likely to buy its product today - even if you might have bought one before the problems hit the headlines?

Knowing that whatever they might build under a sheltered workshop arrangement, are the auto workers likely to take more or less trouble over a car when they know that it is just going to sit unsold on a lot somewhere?

ALL CAR COMPANIES NEED THEIR MONEY TO PAY THEIR STOCKHOLDERS.....THAT IS IT.They will give it to those that own stock and cut jobs.they cut jobs like any other company so the can pay the stockholders,,PROFIT...do you understand the amount of money the car companies spend on advertising.....do you see the ads and the money they spend to produce a commercial???each division of GM has an advertising budget to spend...cut that budget you save 2billion dollars.DUMB LABOR UNION WILL NOT CUT $2 DOLLARS TO SAVE A JOB..i would rather make 28 dollars an hour, and have a job than to make 30usd and get laid-off and not being called back???...dumb union...the company will cut jobs to make money for their stockholders....EVERY COO,CFO CEO will tell you the stockholders come before the workers.....LEARN ABOUT BUSINESS AND THAT THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR YOU OR YOUR FAMILY

No, GM will be fine. The bankruptcy, when it happens, will cut the UAW retired off of the company's health care system. The bankruptcy will wipe out the $70 billion in GM bonds held by investors and the stock-holders. It will reduce the bloated dealership network (7,500 GM vs. 1,500 for Toyota) too.

GM will emerge from bankruptcy, when it happens, a much leaner, competitive company.
