Just watched this film on Sky Movies.....what a fantastic movie.

The acting was great, especially by Casey Affleck, excellent plot, with a few disturbing scenes but it a enthralling watch and i'd definately recommend it.

Anyone else seen it who has any thoughts on it?

Saw this at the cinema. Loved it!!

Never in a movie have I gasped so much! Casey Affleck was really good.

Got it on blu ray, need to get round to watching it again soon, you just reminded me :)

When it first came out I saw it from America since they were putting off the release date here in Britain.

I thought it was an excellent film, haven't read the book though.

I wasn't expecting too much, I only really watched it because it had Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris in it.

I was really impressed. Great non-Hollywood film that avoided most of the cliches and was really interesting. Loved the directing / cimematography.

Great to see actors from The Wire turning up too, along with at least one guy out of the much-missed Deadwood.

A good, slow burning movie. Reminded me of some of Clint Eastwood's movies which is a pretty big complement for Ben Affleck.

Not so sure about Casey Affleck. He was good overall but a lot of lines when he spoke quitely just sounded like mumbling.

Watched this last night, & really enjoyed it. I thought it was really well done. And points to Ben Affleck as the Director, it was really good. Dont want to give away any spoliers but the ending made me think aswell.

Whether to call the police, or let the little girl stay with Morgan Freeman? I have to say, i dont know if id have wanted her to go back to her mother. I realise that must make me sound like an awful person!

I loved it. Tremendous acting and very well directed.

But I would recommend reading the book - its even better. Dennis Lehane is a brilliant writer.

I watched this on Sky anytime at the weekend.

Casey Affleck's mumbling almost put me off right at the beginning but I am glad I stuck with it for the excellent performance from Ed Harris. Morgan Freeman was as good as he always is.

Thought provoking ending, and overall, a really good movie to watch.

I will definitely watch out for books by that author as well.

I think it's good for a movie to make you think like that.

As for his character
He already felt guilty for killing a man when he feels he should of let the law do it's thing legally and not Harris' view of "justice". So after that he really didn't want to be a part of kidnapping and murder even if the girl may have a better life. As he said, he has no idea how she would grow up or how she would feel which ever way things went.
If she neeRAB a better life away from her mother then it's down to social services and not him directly.

I haven't read the book but I was thinking after the last scene (after the revelation about the doll) that he was thinking of making a releationship with the mother just for the sake of the girl or that he may himself put in a call to social services to get the girl away from her mother - legally.

Enjoyed the film but have to agree with you about Casey Alfflek mumbling all his worRAB, he seemed to be speaking through clenched teeth, the other actors were perfect though.

I saw this when it came out at the cinema and quite enjoyed it. The one thing that did spoil it for me a bit though was the amount of swearing; it was excessive imho.

Casey Affleck mumbles in this too? I thought he only mumbled in '...Jesse James' because i thought it went with the character...Tempted to watch it though, wanted to see it for a while.

Watched this on Blu-Ray tonight ...stunning film, challenging and thought provoking ending...makes you think, ...what would I do in his shoes ?

I'll let the ending sink in , continue to ponder on it then watch the "extended alternate ending" on the disc
