Hi everyone so like i said im really having a difficult time here. any advice out there about helping cure my shin splints would be greatly appreciated. bootcamp alone is going to be hard enough and having really painful shin splints will make it even more miserable. any help would be greatly appreciated especially from men and women in the military and runners for that manner.

thankyou

I had really bad shin splints and played a season of soccer with them, rest as much as you can before boot camp and also try get some shoe insouls for your boots for extra support, thats how i got shin splints by having stud boots on hard ground, you need some more support.

Hope this helps

Stretch lots, stay hydrated and try to avoid running on concrete or tarmac.

Make sure you give your legs a break from the impact too, right now my trainer (who is active duty Marine Corps) has me do a 1, 2, 3 day program to prep for BT. Day 1 is running and upper body weights and exercises, Day 2 we swim/bike/use an elliptical machine and do lower body stuff, and Day 3 is my day to chill out and let my muscles heal but I normally do yoga or something easy. It takes 48 hours for your muscles to heal after a workout so the shin splints could just be your body telling you to take a freaking break and let it fix things.

the only cure I know of is to rest a bit... don't run for a while...

at least that's what the military has us do.
