Going to the movies

I have looked forward to seeing New Moon for about a year now. (Do not get started on Twilight hating. That's not what this is about. :tongue: ) I have my Mom pick up a ticket for the Midnight show the day before so I know I'll have a seat. I get to the theater at 11:25 pm.

Guess what. THE ENTIRE THEATER IS FULL! There are a few random seats strewn about, but there are several people standing around looking for a spot. So, being a single, I find a spot on an aisle and wait.

Everyone is talking. Not like, a hushed chatter. It's people yelling to their friends on the other side of the theater.

Finally, the previews start. There is one. People are still pissed because now it's standing room only for the movie and of course, they want to sit. And to top off the movie experience, I have a 12 yr old kicking my seat the whole movie and a 14 yr old who won't shut the fuck up. I shushed her more than once as did her friends and those around us. She also had a bladder the size of a pea because she got up 6 times during the movie. (Yes, I did keep track.)

Needless to say, good movie, but I ended up getting a refund. Movie tickets cost too much to have to put up with that shit for 2 hours.
 
So you sat through the whole thing and then asked for a refund?

WOW!

You knew it was hectic...yet you CHOSE to sit through it.

You do realize you could have waited a few days and no issues right? You don't HAVE to see it the first day just so you can say "I saw it the first day, but let me tell ya about....."

And if there was, it was because this series is shit!

I hate going out to the Theater for much the same reason.

But BY GOD I would never put up with some little fucker kicking the seat behind me. It would stop, oh fucking yes, it would. There are ways. Legal ones, moral ones, something will work. Even if it's just fear.

Fuck that.

Our theater around here would NOT have given you your money back for that, period.
 
A refund for what? :confused:

I don't get it. Was that your first time in a movie theater?


Edit: When I was a little kid (oh shit, I'm about to date myself here :D), my dad and stepmom took me to see Footloose. The opening sequence in Footloose takes place in a church and the next sequence takes place in a diner where the kids in the movie are listening to "Rock and Roll" music. *gasp* My stepmom was such a prude at the time (she's lightened up quite a bit, kudos to my laid back father) that she pulled us out of the theater and demanded our money back because she didn't realise the film was about heathens. :rotflmao:

That, my friends, is indeed a true story. :thumbsup:
 
Ouch CL. This isn't B&T. You don't have to be an ass. You also don't have to be dating to have a man. You could just have a lover, duh.

I told them I didn't want a refund, that I was bringing to their attention the lack of courtesy in the theater. Had I left the movie to report the kids, they would have kicked them out, and honestly, I was going to deal with a pissed off 14 yr old waiting for me outside at 2 am. (She was a royal bitch before and during the movie and I have no doubt she would have done something in retaliation.) I have been to midnight premeirs before and not had nearly as much trouble. Mind you, this is the only time I have ever complained at a theater. Our theather would rather give you a ticket for another movie than deal with the real issue. Which is a bunch of kids being dropped off at midnight to run free in the theater and cause me to miss every other sentence of the movie.
 
Especially at a kid's movie. Even adult movies can be crazy at the premiere depending on the film and the location of the theater.
 
I think manners are just lost forever. In general. The moms that were there weren't doing anything to keep their kids in check and that's just as bad as what the kids were doing.
 
Welcome to the morons of today's society. I honestly can't believe you expected anything different from the masses that go to Twilight movies.
 
I am excited to see this movie, but I'm waiting until I get into California to see it with friends next week. I'm a true Twi-hard, but I can't stand people most days. It's so much worse when they're hormone driven, texting, disrespectful teenage girls...
 
To be fair, the book series is, from any critical standpoint, incredibly terrible. It's poorly written, the characters are poorly developed, and the main character is very clearly a Mary Sue. Then again, the last two points are exactly why this particular book series is such a success.

This is not necessarily a bad thing; because the characters are so poorly developed, especially Bella, she becomes, figuratively speaking, of course, a mirror for the reader. It's very easy for the average teenage girl to put herself in the place of Bella. I mean, what are her defining characteristics? She feels out of place(just like every young woman), unaccepted(again, who doesn't lay claim to this trait at some point in their youth?), and she's clumsy(Nearly everyone who doesn't participate in athletics lays claim to this trait, especially in their awkward adolescent years.).

Beause of this, these books become a safe avenue for women to negotiate their sexuality. This is, in my opinion, precisely why these books sell so well, despite their lack of any scholastic credibility.
