Going to dance with a girl.?

I'm about to ask a friend of mine to a dance hosted by our high school. Its at a very scenic horse race track. The problem is that most of our friends won't be there so it will be more quiet that usual. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to make it less awkward for both of us? My idea was to get in a few slow dances with her and then we would go outside and walk and chat. (By the way we both like each other).
 
You should go to the dance with that girl after all, who cares if your friends are not there. The most important thing is that you two have fun. By the way, great plan layout.
