Going to court (retail theft) and need advice...?

So yes, shame on me, I stole from a retail store. It's my first offense for anything. It was a $36 pair of sunglasses, I got talked into stealing them for a friend. I am not too terribly worried, but I'm a bit nervous. I have never had to go to court for anything. Could anyone give me some advice for court in the morning? Some important topics: keeping this off my record, possibility of jail time, possibility and amount of fines, etc. Thanks.
 
the fine for $36 pair of sunglasses should not be big. unless you want to do community service (which i hate doing). i suggest you go to court and pay the fine. if you were assigned a court date and given a fine, then you can pay the fine before your court date. when ever i have a fine like for speeding or broken rear lights; i just pay the freaking fine right after i see the judge ''community service SUCKS''. again i dont think a theft fine for $36 value should be much. but i think it'll be more than a speeding ticket or broken tail light fine. i hope my answer was helpful to you.
