Going from swing to crib?

I had the exact same problem: the swing was the only way our daughter could get to sleep both for naps and at night. What if you let him fall asleep in his swing, then tried moving him to his crib afterward?

Another thought: perhaps he prefers his swing because it's not as open as laying on a big mattress is. Swaddling can make them feel very comforted and secure.

Also, now forgive me because I can't remember what they're actually called, but placing baby in one of those pillow type things that prevent them from rolling over also can make them feel very secure and comforted. Perhaps he just needs to feel something fitted around his body?

Good luck!

My 5 mo. old has been sleeping primarily in a swing during the day since he was born. He had severe colic and now has been diagnosed with GERD and a weak epiglottis. The swing was the only way we could get him to sleep comfortably.

However, at night time he will sleep in his crib. Just in the past week he's gone from 2 wakings to 1 waking at night, so I know he's slowly getting better.

Here's my question: When I put him to sleep for a nap in his crib, I do good to get 40 minutes out of him. He will sleep for 3 hours in the swing, and he wakes up happy. He wakes miserable after napping in the crib. He usually takes three naps during the day: a long one in the morning, a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon and a 30-45 min nap in the evening.

How do I get him to happily sleep in the crib during the day? He needs his sleep, but if I put him to bed in the crib he doesn't get the sleep he needs. Any advice?
