going camping. what kind of shotgun shells to use.?

Hi im going camping and what kind of shot shells should i use for protection. i have a remington 870 express. do i use buck shots? rifle shots? protection against bears,wild animals or even wild people. please explain why and be specific please.
 
Several Police agencies use Hornady TAP 12 guage ammo. Its a good choice for personal defense (against nearly anything), and is used extensively by law enforcement agencies. This due in part to the fact that the propellants used in the loading of this ammunition were engineered to minimize muzzle flash (It wont blind you on a dark night). You can always mix it up and load a slug in there too =)
