They used to warp mochi in a whole shiso leaf. It's pretty but I always
ripped it off before eating. I can't say that I've ever eaten the stuff.
I have a sushi in the fridge from the funeral last night that's a
purplish pink - this is good if you like pink. I think that it's colored
by the purple shiso called "perilla." I don't think I'll try that one
either cause well, it's pink. :-)

Neither nettle nor sorrel soup, nor the mixture of the two, is
necessarily jammed with butter. I posted a recipe for nettle and sorrel
soup with *some* butter years ago, but there are recipes with no butter
at all. They can be made with water or with meat or chicken broth.
Sometimes boiled eggs and sour cream are added, so they are not
necessarily calorie-free, either.

You probably don't have much to worry about. It's probably just a thing
that happens in Hawaii at local funerals. If you want to be extra sure,
just check out the funeral customs in your town. My guess is that they
serve beer and wine and that it's a lot more fun.
