Gmail Chat not working?

i go to my gmail inbox
everything is working fine (sending mail...recieving mail...loading etc)
My chat is not working, i see the little box on the left side
it shows the green online symbol
i cant see any of my friends or anything
but my friends can see tht im online
they say something but nothing pops up
i sign out and sign in and its in my inbox as an email
idk wuts wrong
