Glomus Tumor

In May 2003, I had an Arteriogram performed & my report read as follows: "small 1 cm vascular enhancing mass regional to the right parotid gland off the small fessel off the right external carotid artery, which may well be a Glomus Tumor". Can anyone give me any feedback as to what this might mean? I know that "glomus tumor" in general is defined as a painful, benign tumor, but beyond that I am clueless and scared??

tdarby,

I am guessing that if you had an Arteriogram back in 2003 than you must be experiencing some type of symptoms now to be asking this question.

Have you checking in with your primary care doctor to see it this area needed to be re evaluated?

I think you should be calling your doctor for an appointment. Let me know how you are doing.

Yes, thanks, my doctor ordered the arteriogram in 2003 & at that time I had health insurance, but I have not had any insurance for quite some time, but my symptoms were constant severe headaches, nauseau, dizziness & I have high blood pressure with a family history of strokes. My dad had a brain stem stroke when he was the age I now am & four strokes to follow. So, as you could imagine, I'm scared & about to start law school but very determined.

You can not attend law school if you are not healthy. Are you having similar symptoms now?

I know what it is like to have medical expenses, I just had neck surgery and between the MRI's before and the inpatient co-pay and the outpatient testing that has followed, I am currently looking at $1,000.00 in out of pocket expenses since late March that I still owe the hospital. However, your health is very important and you must find a way to keep yourself going. I am a recent single mother and just looking into my daughters eyes and knowing that she will have no one if I am gone, gives me the incentive to find the money even if I have to make small payments every month.

So call your doctor and make sure that everything is alright.
