The Algorians are always going on about CO2. So how come they never say anything about soft drinks? Every time you open a Coke or a beer or whatever is carbonated you are releasing CO2 into the air.Shouldn't they be trying to stop all soft drinks worldwide?

Good point, they should be recommending Cool Aid.
Cow flatulence is the greatest contributor to global warming, but no one recommends eliminating cattle ranches or dairy farms.
I've read that the atmospheric effect of one major volcanic eruption is greater than all the cumulative effects for all of human activity in history.

Global Warming is yesterday's news...like Al Gore. Don't worry in about 10-15 years Global Warming will be relevant again when another bleeding heart liberal needs a Nobel Prize.

Most CO2 that is used to make soda is purchased from other sources, where it is a byproduct of some other process and would normally be vented into the atmosphere. So really putting it into soda, then opening the soda to release it, produces a net effect of 0.

Even if the CO2 was somehow created just for soda, the emissions would still not be very great. It's calculated that CO2 from soda in America, the world's biggest soda drinker by far, would amount to only about 400,000 tons of CO2 per year--or about what a single 1000 MW coal power plant would generate in just over 2 weeks.

It's like a drop in a giant lake.
