Give me a reason why Cadillac's are so good?

Me.

Why would some one want to purchase a Cadillac over a Mercedes. Please don't just say "it depends on there preference". I want to know a specific reason.

Foolishness and lack of understanding. Cadillac has a history of mechanical failure and poor workmanship, for more than 20 years. In the past, when a Cadillac engine gets to 100,000 miles, it is time to replace it. I know they are better built now than ever, but I am a seasoned mechanic and am very leary about their ability to last. Mercedes, on the other hand, is only getting broken in at 100,000 miles. They have a much better reputation, globally, and were engineered to travel at Autobahn speeds, in excess of 140 + MPH all day, and NOT EVEN GET WARM!!! Basically, I don't trust anything that GM does. They are more motivated by profit margins and stockholders than they are by safety, longevity or any other criteria that really counts. THis is why GM is in such big trouble tright now. They have more lawsuits going on at any one time than you can imagine. They had more than 10 years of gasket failures in their V6 engines, alone. They have had crash test issues, air bag issues, paint issues. In general, for me, at least, GM does even exist as a viable car company. I would trust Audi, BMW, Acura, Ford, Infiniti, and afew other car makers first. Even GM designs are ostentatious, over done, and under-engineered. These are opinions based on years of repairing automobiles by nearly ALL manufacturers. In time, I predict, there will be fewer and fewer Cadillac dealerships around. In Michigan, most of them are gone, and we are supposed to be the "motor capital" of the country. GEEZ!!!
