Give me a reason for Hawaii....

I got an idea..... FUCK HAWAII!!!

You see my sig... yeah... 848 stolen ON CAMERA and the awesome police "can't" do shit.... bike ends up BACK at the dealership within 5 months.... RE-SOLD. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT there's no corruption here....

bum/crackhead to productive member of society ratio..... 3-1 it seems....

driving ability on a scale of 0-100....... -1,000,000

the Sun shines it seems 22hrs a day....

it's 1,000,000 degrees everyday

places worth riding.... 4

duration of ride (hitting all 4 in one day of course) 1.5hrs

markup on merchandise cause you're white.... 150%

It's 1,000,000 degrees

and here's a lil fun fact.... Get caught on video stealing a bike (I said it already...), no jail time, not even a slap on the wrist..... Get pulled over doing 85 in a 55.... $1500 in fines, a night in jail, 36hrs community service, 30 days no license and an SR22 on your insurance.

or you could come to the beach......

your pick really.... me?? I'm hoping the volcano explodes in epic proportions and wipes this god forsaken shit hole off the globe.

but hey.... at least it's sunny.... and hot.....

You sound disgruntled... Sorry homie! I'll give you hug when I get back... (no homo)

hahhaahahaha......again coffee all over my desk...

Well, after reading some of the experiences specially draven's, I can say I have made up my mind. Like I said earlier, I think my family and finances are more important than anything else. Now given the fact that I already know some of the pros and cons and it seems like the cons outweight the pros I pray the lord that I can work a deal and not go.

Mr. Nismo if given the chance, you got to do what is best for you and the family. The Army can surely use your services at another station. I am a former 58D driver myself, retired OCT 08'. I enjoyed flying the KW with 2nd ACR, Polk and 4/7 Cav in Korea. It is good to see other 58 guys on here. DucJury when did you leave 3/4 Cav?

I lived in Hawaii and I had a blast there, I made many friends and enjoyed what I could. You have to make the best of any situation, if you focus on the bad you will not allow yourself to enjoy anything no matter where you are.

The Military gives you a lot of resources to get discounts on a lot of activities on the Island. You even get a freakin' resort in Waikiki you can book in for pennies on the dollar.

You never know where the police are because they mostly roll civilian cars with little blue lights on top. Just respect their laws and you will be fine, especially SPEED! Which is very difficult with a SuperBike. Hook up with a good crew and they'll show you the routes to extend your ride and make it worth the time. You'll learn the roads and the potholes pretty quick. Just be careful with the careless (stupid) cagers and the drunks on the road. You will learn how to get around the traffic, alternate routes or better times to get in/out of work. If you live on the Base you work at, no worries!

Civilian work is hard to find, so your wife may have a difficult time locating work but its not impossible. I guess it just depends on your skills or not, LOL. Seems like the Locals or friends and famlily will get the work before any outsider.

I know things were bad before, seems like they are a little worse with the economy. A lot of bussinesses are closed and crime/ drugs are up and schooling is down to 4 day weeks - just to name a few. I was just there last week, my buddies were telling me a lot of what was going on. Seems like a big topic amognst the locals is the Micronesian migrants in Hawaii. There are a lot of homeless and big health concerns to what they are bringing into the Island.

Anyway, good luck and if you can't get out of it just do what you can and enjoy it. If you like where you are just rent your house out. There are no shortages of cars on O'ahu, you can always buy one there instead of shipping. Sales tax is about 4%, I believe.
