READ THIS or don't bother answering. My parents are poor immigrants from Ireland. My dad came here with absolutely f*ck all. Not even a suitcase. He came here with one pair of clothes on and the will to work.Guess what? He now owns a $700,000 in a wealthy suburb of Los Angeles. My question is... Why should minorities (particularly Hispanics) gain extra privileges from the governemnt, especially in the education field? My parents are no different than them. He immigrated here, worked his @ss off, and now can support a family of 6 no problem. If my dad can do it gaining no assistance from anyone why can't Hispanic Americans? And please don't tell me you don't receive special rights. Every college application I've used for college had a special, independent question asking, "Are you Hispanic or Latino?" and that's just the beginning of it?What makes their situation different than mine? By the way, I grew up partially in Ireland. And don't say it's because my dad is white. He's what they call "black Irish." People often go up to him and start speaking spanish to him. PLEASE NOTE: I'm not being racist. I'm trying to inform myself. So if there's something I'm unaware of: please, inform me of it.If you have nothing to answer with other than cursing at me, don't bother answering. My brother's gf is Hispanic and is going to the same college as my brother. Her family makes more than my family does yet she got everything paid for (not because of grades; for "financial situation") and got a free laptop simply because she's Hispanic, while my brother has to work his @ss of at McDonald's 30 hours a week to pay for college because my parents can't afford to pay.Is that not absolute bullsh*t?bada-bing- It's because my dad is cheap as hell.Give me one reason my question is racist."educated at the expense of the state"That sounds nice. Why can't I get that?Because I'm white? Who's raicst now?Marissa- I already stated that my dad is cheap as hell.Every penny he gets goes into the bank. The reason your family can't afford a $200,000 is because you spend every penny you get.No, America is not f*cked up. My dad is an immigrant that accomplished the American dream while your parents sat back and enjoyed themselves. How is that f*cked up?
