Hi there! I could really use your help....
At work, I was part of a group of female friends that "dumped" me. I honestly don't know why but, after I got over the sting of it, I actually felt much better when I no longer sociliazed with them. They can be a very mean, catty group and I felt much more true to myself once I stopped being around them.
This was over a year ago (!) and, to this day, they run very hot and cold with me. One day nice, one day I am invisible.
One of them in particular is sending confusing signals. She will do things like walk by my desk and say hello to everyone standing at my desk but me. She won't make any eye contact and is just very obvious in her rejection/silent treatment. But then she go to her desk and "like" my facebook status or a photo I posted.
It's confusing and silly.
And I'm really not sure how best to respond. I want to move on and I want them to move on. Just be friendly coworkers and, yet, day to day I don't know what I'm going to get from them.
I'll admit, it does still hurt me but, mainly, it's just very confusing.
I can't imagine why, over a year later, this is still going on.
So what would you do if you were me:
1) Put them all on ignore. You shouldn't be a doormat so just let them fall off your radar and move on with your life. Enough already.
2) Keep being friendly, coworker-y and try to ignore any silliness. It's hard to do but, by playing games back, you are stooping. Be friendly and unaffected.
3) Your suggestion?
I really, really appreciate any advice. Thanks much!
