gifts for my boyfriend. military boy?!?

i need some suggestions about what to get my boyfriend.
He goes to a military/navy (something) academy.
He is very UNmaterialist. he carrys around everything he needs in a back pack (knife. flashlight, lighter. gloves. extra cloths. only useful shit.)
im not 100% sure what to get him that he would truely appreciate and carry around.
a lock pick? any suggestions
 
whats your budget cos that will help. go on google and type in military stuff and then go on websites and look for the misc. stuff cos that will most probs be the stuff he dont have.
