Giants FAN - Why did they ax FG kicker Carney?

Crap Tynes got injured last year, we got old guy Carney and he was GREAT. He was Pro Bowl Great in fact and then Tynes got better and the Giants got rid of Carney in the off season.

Umm.. WTH? Why? Can anyone give a logical reason why the Giants got rid of the good FG kicker and opted to keep the crap Tynes who has NEVER been reliable and who will prob. cost the Giants their season?

Kickers make the difference when you play good teams and Giants can only go so far with a crap kicker.

Remember 3 tynes the charm during the ice cold Packers game to go to the Superbowl 2 years ago? That game never should have went to overtime.. it only did b/c crap Tynes missed TWO previous field goal attempts.

Anyone?
 
Over his career Lawrence Tynes has been quite accurate (100/125) which is 80%.

The reason the Giants got rid of Carney is because Tynes has the ability and history of kicking 50+ yard field goals in poor kicking conditions. Carney is a very good kicker but at his age can no longer kick the long field goal with consistency. In fact over the previous 5 years he's only made two such field goals.

Basically they opted for the much younger player who has a stronger leg and the slightly lower career completion percentage.
