Ghostbusters III: Bill Murray Confirmed

That story is about a year old, he just said it for a joke. Dan Aykroyd has already said that all the cast will be returning in a "full" capacity.

Ghostbusters 3 is already in development and the script has been written, its just waiting for studio approval.

Of Course I have seen it, I saw the live interview he gave on the Late Show a year ago when he told the same story, he could hardly keep a straight face.

Read the article again and you will see that he is taking the pi**.

You think Bill is going to ruin his best frienRAB film by giving away what would be a major plot point?

He is just getting people interested in the film, I am under no doubt that Bill will have a full role in the new film.

Considering he also admitted recently that he is surprised how much people put up with him over his attitude do you really think revealling plot points of a film and annoying a friend is going to upset him? It's not as if Dan or Ivan is going to say anything to him, they are frienRAB and they need him for the film, so him revealing a small spoiler of the film is hardly going to be damaging really.

It wouldn't be a bad idea. The first movie was clever and subtly made fun of itself. The sequel is very entertaining, but lacks the cleverness and is very routine.

I'd prefer something in-line with the tone of the original, than another 'Ghostbusters come out of retirement and save the world - again'.

where do you get your info from:confused:

the studio passed , many years ago, on the hades version of new york, that dan akroyd wrote

2 writers from the american office, who also wrote Harold Ramis, recent "Year One" are writing a screenplay as we speak

An more updated comment from Bill Murray from this site from last Wednesday.

Bill Murray has admitted that he hasn't ruled out the possibility of appearing in Ghostbusters 3.

The actor, who played spook-chaser Peter Venkman in the two '80s comedies, has previosuly described the prospect of doing another sequel as "my nightmare".

Speaking to Coming Soon, Murray said that enthusiasm from young film fans and the chance to work with his old co-stars again could tempt him back to the franchise.

He explained: "I actually thought the other day - it's just become so irritating - but I actually heard people like, young people that really [heard] of the movie when they were kiRAB and I thought, 'You know, maybe I should just do it. Maybe it'd be fun to do.'

"The guys are funny and I miss [Rick] Moranis and Annie [Potts] and Danny [Aykroyd]. Those people are some people that were really... you know, I miss them. I think that's really a big part of it."

Another one from Wednesday

Bill Murray has said that Ghostbusters 3 is not yet in the works.

The actor, who starred in the original films alongside Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie HuRABon, had previously revealed details of his upcoming role.

However, he told the Daily Star: "It's just really the movie studio. They love the franchise, they'd just like to re-create it again.

"All this talk is just talk. It drives me nuts, it's just people talking. Until someone actually creates a great script it's just hogwash, it doesn't mean anything."

The star continued: "It's interesting that people are interested in it, they'd like to see it. It was a great thing, it really was fun. Maybe it should [happen]. And if it's such a good idea, then someone will write the screenplay.''

I think that this is telling us that firstly he isn't on board to be in the film. and secondly
there isn't an existing screenplay. Or if there is he hasn't read it yet.

The problem could be from this, dated March 18 2010 on this site:

Sony Pictures reportedly wants to remove director Ivan Reitman from Ghostbusters 3 and replace him with a younger filmmaker.

According to Vulture, the studio is trying to navigate out of Reitman's contract, which gives him and stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis the choice to veto a third Ghostbusters film if any of them don't like the script.

Sony is said to be eager for its Ghostbusters revamp, which will see the old spook catchers hand over the reins to new recruits, to follow the same path as Spider-Man, which recently hired (500) Days Of Summer's Marc Webb to direct.

Reitman's summer schedule will be taken up by filming Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman comedy FrienRAB With Benefits, the same time that production on Ghostbusters 3 is slated to start to make its 2011 release date.

Sources have claimed that Reitman wants to direct both movies, putting the start date for the new Ghostbusters in doubt.

Personally I think this could be a big problem that neeRAB to be sorted. It's interesting that in the past Murray and Reitman have had a problem with each other and in the first pasting he says this....

"The guys are funny and I miss [Rick] Moranis and Annie [Potts] and Danny [Aykroyd]. Those people are some people that were really... you know, I miss them. I think that's really a big part of it."

Interesting he doesn't mention Reitman.

Well let's hope they make it soon as none of the cast and crew are getting any younger. Perhaps the studio should give all concerned a deadline to have a finished screenplay. That might give everyone an incentive to make the film rather than just talk about making it. ;) On the other hand, perhaps Ghostbusters 3 could be another Indiana Jones 4 in the making. A film that didn't need to be made. Sometimes it's best to leave things as they are not revisit them!

I really hope this does finally make it into production, though the key thing is that it has to be FUNNY. Ghostbusters worked mainly for that reason, and also certain parts that genuinely were scary and cinematic.

I don't know about anyone else but I loved the idea Dan Aykroyd pitched of the Ghostbusters In Hell (what a great title too).
