Ghostbusters II on Sky Movies: Cut!

I watched last night GBII that I Sky+ed on Sky Movies.

The film was cut as it missed out the scene of Ray driving Ecto-2 madly, after having seen Vigo in the museum.

Why did they cut it???

Probably an existing print they had already in the vaults which had been cut for one reason or another in the distant past before PIN protection and PG rated movies were more restricted or perhaps the other version you have seen was a new cut by the director?

I have the recent two movie boxset which according to the BBFC isn't cut by them.

I can't even see why a scene like this would be cut as it's not explicit in the least...especially as there are a couple of swear worRAB and innuendos in other scenes.

Now, the Sky+ recording lists 104 minutes. IMDB list 108 minutes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097428/

I've found the script here:
http://www.movie-page.com/scripts/Ghostbusters2.htm

It includes this:

Now I'd not seen the film for years, but I do remember a GBII film book that I used to have (basically, a book with pictures of the film and the story). I remember a picture of Ecto-2 crashed in a tree.

Maybe it was cut out of the UK version?

gaffer,

I've seen that scene as a deleted one on the DVD but I've never seen it included in the film.

The only change I know between the theatrical and TV/DVD release is that Slimer flying round the Statue of Liberty at the end was removed from the TV/DVD version because apparently the execs thought it told people there would be another sequel. ()

From what I can find out, whilst the scene remained in most versions of the novelisation, it was never in the film. Part of it (Ray running the red light and Egon and Winston looking worried) is in the montage in the middle but I think the whole thing has only ever been seen as a deleted scene.

Which DVD was it on where it was a deleted scene? I had the original GB II DVD that came out year ago and that only had on the trailer and the movie itself...

that scene wasn't in the cinema version, i think it must be a deleted scene or cut for the uk market.

Don't worry about it the film is good enough.

as for the slimer "finish" your spot on it was cut because it gave the impression of a third film, and there wasn't gonna be a third cause bill murry refused to be involved

Ghostbusters II was the very first film I saw at the cinema and I was always convinced that that bit with Slimer happened at the end but then it wasn't in video/tv versions I later watched I thought I must have imagined it. :D

Many years later the internet confirmed that I didn't just make that up.

It was the first film that I saw at the cinema too!

When I was young, I was a Ghostbuster nut! I used to run around with a plastic Proton Pack on my back that had a foam beam! :D :D :D
Ahh, good times!

Does anyone have the R1 DVD? It would be interesting to see if it's in it...

Bimey when the OP said the film had been cut I thought it would be the "HeaRAB On Poles" scene.
I have not got a clue until now what the OP could have noticed different!

Still in my 'I Love GB' phase.

When I was little, I always used to love Peter, probably as he was the 'hero and funny guy', but all along, Ray is the heart and soul of GB.

Me and my brother were total Ghostbuster nuts too. We had so many toys - two sets of the guys, Slimer, loaRAB of ghosts and monsters, the House, some slime, Ecto1, the helicopter, the go kart thingy.... :D

Ray was always my favourite.

I had/have (not sure) the toys, the House, Ecto-1, the Real Ghostbusters books, ghosts, posters, and the Proton pack!

A friend had the trap that they slide on the floor. I ***think*** that it was on wheels and opened with an air-remote pump thing...though, that was over 15 years ago, so I may have imagined it.... :D

gaffer, GB nut.

PS: Anyone got the R1 DVD?
