GFT Bans Romanians

We originally banned Romania because practically 90% of the fraudulant donations (donations made with stolen credit cards) and invite selling was from Romanians. There was something like 3 legitimate Romanians, and we whitelisted them. We later lifted the block quietly just to see if the behavior stopped, and it didn't, but it was no longer the Romanians leading the fraud, so the block was permanently removed.

It doesn't matter that Romania has millions upon millions of legit, friendly people on real high speed internet connections. What matters is that the number of bad people from Romania using those sites far outweighs the number of good people.

Excelent post, dreamsearch and as .ro user, I fully agree with the points made by you. :)

It's not by far a threat but considering the way legislation is evolving in your "civilized" countries you might one day be faced with the ultimate decision of joining a .ro tracker as they might be the only ones left.

What will your expensive servers do against our fast connections? Will you cheat to keep your account, will you obey the rules and get banned for bad ratio, will you trade your invites as they would probably be hard to get? It's just a theory that i hope will never have to see materialize.

...or having the servers located in our country, if I might add. ;)

You people need to stop crying about how disadvantaged the Romanian people are as compared to the U.S. (or the rest of the world).. it has nothing to do with any of that at all! Romania may have it's problems with society sure(just like the rest of the world) so, let's quit the feel sorry for me shit huh..? this is bittorrent, not the United Nations! being a staffer myself, i see a significant amount of RO users that do stupid shit everyday... ratio cheating, trading, GA, HnR, etc... Some site's see a more significant number of RO doing this than others, on the site i staff at we do not blame the whole country, we just take care of the bad ones that we find.. and there are many i might add... But, we know we do have some decent Ro members and they take care and report the ones they deem put them in a bad light so for us it all takes care of itself... i don't necessarily agree with country banning but, from my point of view i can see where other sites that do are coming from.. they ban the country simply because it cures the headache..

and as for who staRAB at the site... let's not make it all about Serb now, it just gives him a big head.. as he takes that shit as a complement.. lol

At the end of the day, it is THEIR site and THEY can do whatever they want with it...You don't like it? Start your own tracker...end of story.

thank you guys ..but it;s pointless...Nobody will ever do a thing...except from banning and disable.
Apropos...A friend of mine from Italy gave me an account on PTM... cause he wasn;t going to use it ( low internet speed). In the very next day i was banned for fake...fake onto a non ratio tracker. When I asked what happened they said " too high speed...until now 300k and suddenly you have over 8MB --> fake!!! " I told them I have the account and sent them proof. They banned me even if I had everyting on seed with a 2+ ratio at every torrent....

This has turned into a GFT hate thread by Romanians. Who would have thought?

Seriously, discrimination is not a good thing and while I don't agree with the GFT staff on this, I also don't have any experience with running a tracker and tbh I'm too chicken to ever start one. So from that point of view I can understand where they're coming from.

Bad move by GFT. [2]
yeah, global measures can't be good.. at least they didn't throw out existing normal users. and can't blame them frankly that they want to save some of their valuable time from dealing with bad users towards something more effective... locked down tracker? they're _almost_ on open signup since today after hitting 100% donations :) /not mentioning their invite offers at other sites/
ps if someone wants for the gft to unban new .ro registrations, why don't you offer them your ultimate skills and time for keeping bad users from the tracker? :)

All the unjustified hatred towards my country and my people made me actually take a chance and post in this thread. Yes we might deserve the SCT ban, we might even deserve the SCC ban and again the GFT one but we surely do not deserve the racial discrimination, the insults and the hatred.

You keep forgetting that we are not born with the same privileges as some of you are and for succeeding in the world we live in we have to go over our heads and work our asses off. Some wash cars in intersections because they would starve if they would just sit tight and wait for a miracle. We do not benefit from the same government support as other countries so we are basically on our own. Some of you might consider all these wrong, but it's more like a struggle for survival. Even though we come from the worst possible background many of us do manage to step up and advance on the social ladder as we find it easy to adapt and use what we are given. For example,if you give us internet and we'll do great considering 10 years ago most of us haven't even heard of computers. Even more we are in the top10 on most trackers as a country. Don't you find that strange considering we are just a bunch of people compared to US or other more developed countries? Not to mention over 3/4 of our country does not have internet access, that our schools do not provide us with computers and that our minimum wage is about 150 euros/month. All you care about is your rules and your trackers sitting cozy in your overprotective country laws trying to figure out what to do with your lives and how to become famous on the internet.

True and fair enough i couldn't disagree with the fact that since you've built your tracker you're free to shape it the way you want and provide access to whoever you want. Arguably, due to some rotten apples a decision was taken. Totally unfair is placing an entire country's BT users in the same pot. In the future please keep the accusations for those that are proven guilty.

True is also the fact that it was our bandwith and our activity that made some trackers what they are today (will not give names ). It is because we actually don't afford to buy software that we download all the stuff we do, for us there is no legal way yet. This is not just a hobby as it is for some you, we actually need the stuff we download, will go through the effort of unraring the film, cracking the game, fake registering the software in order to enjoy it. We don't just seed and delete the stuff we download in order to increase our e-penises, nor we spend money on servers for the very same reason. Imagine paying 20% of your monthly earnings for a seedbox. There is no excuse to cheating, selling accounts etc but this is not for the fun of it, it is the easy way around a complicated system that too few understand and have the time and means to respect it.

One by one you may all choose to ban us from various trackers and as frustrating it is seeing your hard work go to waste for no reason we will survive as we are used to being thrown away after being used. It's similar to the problem of romanians leaving their country to work outside. It's our availability to do the dirty work of other countries and enlist in jobs that you wouldn't even consider in the hope of providing for our families that ended up in becoming our bad image. Of course we took the jobs, of course we did what we were payed to and of course we were thrown away in total disrespect after we played our part. It's the same on trackers, specially the small ones that need and embrace our cheap available bandwith but are ready to push the country ban button at the smallest sign of trouble.

It's not by far a threat but considering the way legislation is evolving in your "civilized" countries you might one day be faced with the ultimate decision of joining a .ro tracker as they might be the only ones left. You see we're not the same as poland and israel and egipt (no offense guys) as we do have the power (trackers) to stand alone in the BT buisness and provide for our users as good as major trackers can. I wonder where would we stand if you would one day come begging to us. What will your expensive servers do against our fast connections? Will you cheat to keep your account, will you obey the rules and get banned for bad ratio, will you trade your invites as they would probably be hard to get? It's just a theory that i hope will never have to see materialize.

I as a .ro user ( that hasn't been banned from any tracker for any reason ) will stand proud and move on from what i consider to be another offensive act against my country. I am not referring to the ban but to some of the replies that have been posted in this thread, on this forum that "does not tolerate" racism.

Thank you for reading, have a nice day/night and do consider your words in the future before posting insulting lines about people that have never done you any harm.

what can we say more????

Actually, on the site that i'm an administrator (quite a big romanian tracker if you ask me), i've seen more fakers and cheaters from countries like: Sweden, India, Turkey, Brazil, Italy than i saw fakers and cheaters from Romania. And we do not ban those countries... we disable the accounts and then ban the ip of the user (or in a worse case the ip class (hacking attempts etc.)).

You should also learn that fakers can be easily spotted by the staff of a tracker only by using the staff search utility included in a tracker source.

By this i tried to show you all that banning an entire country is a stupid thing to do and it is a way of solving things in an easy, brainless way.

Would die quickly? Why? You really think that a tracker with only .eu users for example wouldn't survive?!

PS: There are as many people who hate Romania as there are who hate USA...
Hating coutries is fun.

I recon if ya ll implement one of them top 10 thighys with best sharers and countries Romania will easily be in top 5. My own opinions is that you and all the trackers that banned Romania done it because of their internet super speeds. Because of that they will never need to donate to keep a ratio(I know it sounds silly for gft, in your case we'll name it upload traffic). I might be wrong tho.

Also there are so many good Romanian trackers that a ban like this won't affect them too much. About BT in Romania:
what other country had a learning tracker in their own language?(not English)?
what other country has so many music trackers sharing music in their own language(not English)? There's at least 5 Romanian music trackers(excluding elektronik and metal-iPlay)
There's also TBS specialised in DvDRO
filelist is one of the trackers everyone makes fun of but have you ever tried to download anything from them? If not I ll tell you you will download with max speeds everything anytime.
There's loads and loads of things I can prove that Romanian trackers are at least as good as the international ones.
have you ever received a pm on a Romanian decent tracker begging for donations? Don't think so.
I can continue for ages but I cant be bovered now. tara!

hence ban.
As been stated, we havnt banned the .ro users that have been good, its just with all our new .ro users, we seem to have banned more for cheating, than legitimate .ro

The Romanians have enough good .ro trackers... they surely don't care about this...

agreed, enjoy those sites.

Bad move by GFT. [2]
at least they didn't throw out existing normal users. and can't blame them frankly that they want to save some of their valuable time from dealing with bad users towards something more effective

agreed, not that i have anything more effective to do ;) (i tend to break the site rather than being more effective)

I don't think that they are banned ip classes .... the message is clear : ''If you are caught inviiting a romanian user, their account will be banned and your account will be warned.'' so to ban an acc. you have to create one first. And there a lot of romanians on tracker so what where they thinking when haved made that news i dont't know
