Listen to RYU. You are getting a HORRIBLE DEAL!! I know you just want to get a ride and are jumping on the first deal you see, but there is a working version out there for that price. Look longer. Annoying I know, but you will get a better deal I am sure. You are assuming that the engine is all you need, but the engine is the bullet proof part of a Kawasaki. If you are having to replace the engine on an 8 year old Ninja, I am pretty sure it was completely thrashed and NOT cared for at all.

...models/years will fit ? Also Im getting it for 1000 perfect everything besides the engine being shot is this a good buy or ?
and extra points if you can tell me where I can get an engine for around 500 nothing on ebay (that I can see)
 
Honestly? That's a horrible buy. If you need a new engine it's not a good buy especially for an old 250. Go to Craigslist and look at others for sale locally. You should be able to find one in better condition for around the same price. I just looked around me and saw a 2003 250 for 1200 with only 10000 miles on it.
