getting ready for Air Force boot camp?

I have been trying to gt ready for boot camp by running, doing push and doing sit ups. When I do sit up my tail bone really hurts and it stops me from doing more then I can. I Put a mats under me some times that helps but I know I will not have that in BMT. Is there anything I can do to stop it from hurting or exercises that will help build muscle to stop it from hurting. And I am doing them the right. way. Or did anyone else have this problem in BMT and what did you do to help lessen the pain?
