Hi Everyone,
Lets just say im not doing so great on my taper plan. But i am still tapering so thats a plus. The anxiety, lack of energy and depression is what makes me keep takeing vics. However im at 4 or 5 vics a day and plan on just going cold turkey in a couple of weeks. So my question is ill prob need some time off from work. I will also need a note.So if i go to a walk in(medical treatment) and say im not feeling well ....will they no im in withdrawls? How long should i take off? Ive never been through withdrawls so i dont no how they will be for me since every one is different. Any suggestions?

Hello erie,

I doubt a doctor will think you're in withdrawal. Perhaps, go get the note on your last day of using. Tell him you feel like you have the flu and need about a week off work. I'd say at least 4 days, but more like a week if you can swing it with work.

The anxiety, lack of energy and depression are all symptoms of withdrawal so if you're feeling them now, it might be wise to just stop at three of four vics. I think it would just be a placebo if you went any lower. It's up to you though. If you feel more comfortable going right down to one, then trust your own instincts.

Take a look at the second thread on the main page titled "Sample Home Detox." It has some great suggestions to help corabat withdrawals. I used it when I was in withdrawal, and I found it to be of great help.

Have you considered going to NA meetings? Or perhaps talk to an addictions counsellor and get yourself into treatment. It's always better to protect yourself by educating yourself as much as possible.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Keep us informed of how you're doing. Hopefully, others will reply with some suggestions too :)
