Getting On (BBC4/BBC HD 10.00pm)

The presentation does sound like a good idea, but alas this looks like one of those comedies which never ventures outside of the main ward (bar a non-descript corridor at the end of ep.3, but it never went into their destination)

Yes, another excellent episode with the complaint about Kim Wilde's aside quoting Ivy calling Hilary a "fat nonce" scarily realistic in terms of the Union rep and the conflict management meeting - more so because Kim had meant it as a compliment!

And when they were discussing whether or not Hilary was homosexual, Den's reaction and then finding out she'd given Hilary a blow-job in the back of the taxi - fantastic!

Just stick the damned camera on a tripod!

I sat down and watched the first two episodes last night and was in stitches, what a shame they've only made 3 episodes. I really, really hope they make more as I personally think it's the best comedy that's been on telly for a few years.

The camera work doesn't seem so bad either after watching 3 episodes in a row, guess I just got used to it.

Small but important bit: It was "fat nance" (as in nancy boy, i.e. gay) rather than "fat nonce" (entirely different thing), but the look on Den's face when she realised Hilary might be gay and he wasn't saying was brilliant, especially when he didn't want to discuss it later.

And am I the one who didn't have any problem with the camera work? I'm used to it on The Thick of It and thought it adRAB to the pace and flow of the show.

Finally (in this post) it was great to hear Mott the Hoople's All the Young Dudes playing as all the old dears were moved, particularly Joyce who was wandering off on her own despite that being advised against earlier on.

I had that song playing in my head today when finally getting some cleaning done, as it happened when they were finally getting things moving :)

and I thought I had a wicked sense of humor :p

I really enjoyed the series (if you can call it that - defo deserves a new run). I had occasional giggles and wry smiles which I assumed was the intention. :D

I'm a fan of The Thick Of It and like the acting/improv style, the casting and the directing (points off for some of the camera work though ;))

Nope, I never even noticed it until I came to this thread.

Yeah, I thought it was a great way to end the show. In fact I dug it out and listened to it today!

Fab show, hope it comes back very soon. :D

Lots of detail to enjoy. The title of Pippa's paper was excellent: "Faecal Incontinance and Bowel Discharge" - a real page turner that!

Another BBC4 "hit" for me. Not sure they could carry on and do a full series, but another 3 wouldn't go amiss. I, for one, would love to hear Pippa's presentation!

I loved this. Really funny. I loved the doctor taking the age of the deceased woman from the birthday cake - brilliant! Cleverly observed, well written and presented. Can't wait for next week

Just watched Wednesday's episode. The best one yet! I love Ricky Grover's portrayal of matron Hilary Loftus - he just plays it so deadpan, he's absolutely brilliant. I also really enjoy the acute observations of NHS life, like the argy-bargy about closing the ward for a deep clean, the the 'conflict resolution strategy meeting'.

Did anyone else see the repeat of ep.1 last night? I was nearly PMSL especially at the "I want to die, please kill me." line.
Such a great show. Just noticed it's out on DVD next month, I'll definitely be ordering me a copy.

I too greatly enjoyed this 'series' and really would love to see more episodes made. It has great potential and is a show that people seem to be able to relate to, even if they haven't experienced life on a geriatric ward.

Myself and a friend have set up a group on FaceBook (''Getting On'' - BBC Four) which aims to contribute towarRAB seeing more episodes of this cracking show made. If you want to join us, feel free.

Great, I'll make a point of joining next time I'm on facebook.
I'm looking forward to watching it again later I pre-ordered the dvd from play.com & it arrived this week:D
