Getting more stretch marks since starting to exercise!?

I am 17 years old, so of course have never been pregnant. However, I have stretch marks! Not as bad as someone who has been pregnant, but they are still an annoyance. I have them on my hips, calves, and all over my thighs. I was never fat, but was not very toned up for a while. I have since then lost 20 pounds, I do 40 minutes of pilates a day. I am not bulking up, I am thinning down. But I'm GETTING MORE stretch marks!

Why is this?! It makes me so self conscious. They are not too noticeable, but I see them. They are all I see and it is so maddening. I was hoping that with exercise, they would become less visible but instead the opposite has happened.
