Getting around blocked esn writing?

Running into something else. I tried repairing the ESN and MEID file on my vx8600 through bitpim, but I get a "access to file/directory has been blocke on this phone by provider". What do I do to remove this block?

probably have to open the NVM via lg download and then access the file system.

I take that back, I go into NV EDit and then exit but Bitoim still denies access. Do I have to reflash the entire firmware is their something I'm missing?
