either ignore her or let her sit by you, after all dogs are social pack animals.

when you put puppys in kennels, they almost always whine. the best thing to do is to ignore it, because they will get used to it. the best method to do is to leave them in for a little while, and then go for longer periods over time.

I just got a new 9 week puppy (and yes i was aware that she would whine before i got her) and when i put her in the kennel she whines for me. i read not to console her cause it makes it worse. I try to give her a couple nos and just ignore it but i was wondering if anyone knew a better method?

The joys of puppies.. we recently got a 7 week old pup and she was whining as soon as we left the room, we put her outside with plenty of toys with the door open so we could hear her. We left her howling for 10 minutes and went outside but ignored her excitment until she settled, each time we have left her for a little bit longer and waited for her to stop whining. She can now be outside with out us happly... Good luck =)

When my dog was a puppy she did the same thing.. so did my cat. So, I bought a clock that ticked. I was given this idea and told it sounds like a heart to the puppy and helps make the puppy feel more comfortable like it is still with its mother and not alone. Give it a try.

the best thing you can do is just completly ignore her... even saying no is still acknowledging her, and it will make her whine longer... i like the idea that someone gave earlier of putting a blanket over the cage.. not the entire cage, but so the puppy cant see you...
over time, the puppy will get used to it, and will no longer whine

all you can do is ignore it.. she will eventually learn that whining wont get her what she wants.

Put a blanket over the crate make sure she cant see you. As soon as she starts whining throw a shoe at the crate. They dont see you so its not bad. They shut up in 2 secs.
