G1 gonna have to go on a diet...

You are in the same boat as me then plenty of power sources and someone will pry this phone from my cold dead fingers. I am not going back to Symbian and I definitely not going back to WM6.... Don't even get me started about the iPhone either, I'd rather have no phone then use that crap.

What is the OEM battery mAH rating? Isn't it like 1200mAH? So maybe 30% more juice? If the OTA update can address some power issues in combination with a higher capacity battery, then that should be a substantial improvement in battery performance.

On my old Garmin iQue 3600 we suffered from a really poorly performing 900mAH battery that barely gave 1.5-2 hours of GPS use or about 4-5 hours of normal PDA use.

Then some industrious person found a 1500mAH battery with the same form factor and a bunch of us ordered those and replaced the OEM (it was not a user replaceable battery BTW). That was a huge jump and we were getting almost 5 hours of continous GPS use....so much of an improvement!

Then came the 2000mAH battery.....whoa! I bet we see something similar here....I think a 2000mAH battery is likely for our G1's. Price needs to be around $25-$35 though.

From all I've read/heard, they're working on a 'battery recall', and a software fix in the update, don't know if that's all true or not, but I think I'll wait and see before I go shelling out $50+ for a slightly larger battery!!

Yea that's kinda steep in price and it only has a 3 star rating. I don't know how much I trust it. I'd rather buy a a reg one made forr g1.

I agree. BUT, what HTC Wimo device are you talking about that has good battery life. Cause, the stack I have all shared one common trait...batt life sucked.

my phone left the charger 7am yesterday fully charged.
3g on all day.
heavy usage, more usage at night
i charged 30min total during the day. 15 to work & 15min home
the battery lasted me till 4am & it still had about 15% left.

I prefer to the slim extended battery instead of this one since I don't want to make my device to be more bulky. Anyway, thanks for your information!:D

Hate to tell you this but the Diamond and Touch Pro are considerably more expensive than G1 (even when subsidized with a contract) than G1 + $60 extended battery.

Also consider this:
G1 battery is 1100mah
Diamond - 1400man
extended G1 battery - 1600mah

$55? No thanks!

My battery is doing fine at the moment. I just got mine today, powned the jeepers out of it - didn't put it down for four hours, streaming music through imeem, youtubing, browsing the net, adding contacts, reading mail, texting all heavily non stop - before it died on me. And that was when it first came out of the box half charged.
