Get Templar ?

Happy Holidays. Question: lately I have a hotsync bug. At the very end of a sync the last words on the palm screen are get templar and it causes a soft reset. When checking the sync log, it indicates everything is fine. Any ideas

You don't get a final screen on the handheld that says "cleaning up"? It says get templar?

Look for a file on the handheld called templar and delete it....that'd be my advise.

You got a new one there buddy. ;)

I just checked 'cause I remembered having seen these little buggars before. Templar Get and Templar Set are files that I can ONLY find on my T3 using the "application list editing menu" on FINDHACK of all things. TealMover nor TomCatalog show them. I believe they are in ROM and I used to think they had something to do with JackFlash, but I don't think so any more.

They are weird, "there but not there" files, and deleting them (I'm afraid} would be difficult or impossible. I don't know what they do but I'll do some checking and post back here if I find anything.

It may be possible that they create a saved preference - in which case deleting that saved pref with something like Filez, TealMover or SysTool might "give 'em a jolt" and make them reset. A soft reset (as you experienced) should have done that - so I'm at a loss frankly as to what you can do. I think a hard reset is a little over the top at this point and furthermore might not help - let's see what we can find out . . . .

OK that didn't take long . . . look here: It's apparently a damn FONT! Look center page in blue box, below the green one:

Would that explain anything? Perhaps try deleting anything using that font? But then why do I have it (them)?

This is getting strange. I checked the info on the T2 and it is there, but when you hit the delete programs, it does not show up on that screen. It is nowhere to be found in fileZ rom or anywhere else. It is most likely hidden in a regular 3 party program. I am thinking DTG may be the problem. I had deleted it a wile back, and the old T2 sync like a charm. I reloaded it (ver 6) and that is when the problem started to show up. I will e-mail their support to see if it is them. Oh yea my screen does say cleaning up like normal, then the get templar......boom auto soft reset. Fonts can do strange things. Thanks for all the help. If I find a solution I will post.

I have a Tungsten E and when hotsyncing lately it freezes at "Synchronizing Templar Get" How do I remove it? Please help - I am not a very sophisticated Palm user but relay on it for my business.

I opened Palm Desktop, then Documents to Go. Then, I deleted the last things I has installed on my Palm, then reinstalled them.... and it went away. Weird.

Sorry, I have not been able to get rid of it. I am trying to aviod a hard reset. It is a font, but which program is using it is unknown. I deleted font bucket, but it was still there. I have been kinda slow in messing with it, because my T2 will show that everything synced fine. The freeze is more of a bother than anything else. I have searched the web, and except the site that PTL found it at, I have been unlucky. I guess I will rename my backup folder to backupold, and do a hard reset, and load each program back one at a time to see which one is causing the problem, but I am trying to avoid that due to I have so many programs. Some one else may shed some light on this. Like I said above, fonts can cause strange things to happen. I had a ms 2000 that would not fire up, and it was a font program that caused the problem. Lucky I had a back up disc to reload the program. Good luck.

We must have been posting at the same time. Thanks a lot. I knew it had to be Docs. I tried to get help form them but unless you have the latest version you get no support. Thanks again. :D

Just a quick update. I saved my doc. files, and one spread sheet on the desktop, then deleted docs to go from the T2, hot synced, and no problems. I reinstalled docs ot go. Hot synced, angain no problems. Added the files back, and so far no more templar get freeze. I wish I could figure out what caused it in the first place, but with no support form Docs to go (without update) I guess we will never know. It seems any time I had sync problems, it was Docs as the cause. Oh well if every thing went perfect whith these machines, we would not need this great forum. This should be the year of gadgets, so save your money. Thanks, Guitar picker
