It seems if I am correct I can hand down my psp to my boy and get a phone that will do what I have been using the psp for. Movies, music, and a game or two. I get a 20% discount off phones and service from verizan. My new every two is almost up. Which verizan phone will I be able to download (from home) movies and music. And can I even do this?

I dont want to spend the extra money connecting the phone to the internet. So I want to download or rip them using my Home or laptop. Then save to the phone either on stick or on board mem. Am I way off on this ? If not what are my best choices?

Could a mod please move this to the verizon. I dont want to double p

Yes, you can do this.

You can download movies and convert them over to the appropriate format and then put the movie on a memory card and watch them on your phone.

Music is basically the same way, transfer over music to your phone or a memory card, and listen to them on your phone. I would buy a nice set of earbuds or stereo headphones. I use a nice set of bluetooth stereo headphones myself.

Games now are another story. Your going to have to purchase them through GIN (Get It Now) or another format depending on what type of phone you purchase. Just remember, the screen on cellphones is no way going to compare to a PSP. But, there are some nice phones out there with fairly decent screens that make playing games pretty fun.

Thanks for the reply. I'm lookin at the storm. Anyway one more question. I understand that I may have to get a different plan. Really I will probably only download a couple of games over the life of the phone. I will rip and transcode my own movies. Otherwise I dont plan on spending time on the web with the phone. Just consolidating my entertainment. The question: Do I have to get one of the high dollar plans to own this phone????

PS man I just got screwed on this new every two by about 18 days

First, I hear ya on getting screwed...that does blow!

If you are getting a blackberry...there is no way of getting out of having to pay the higher price. Blackberry requires you to sign up to there system.

As far as I know, if you buy any other smart phone, you are subject to the same thing. You must sign up for a higher price plan.

That's not entirely correct. If you want to get a Blackberry, then you do need a data plan. But if you were to get a Palm-based phone, you could just as easily block data.

yes your right I called and tallked to a rep the other day. One thing I noticed is when questoning my friends about thier smart phones is that they really dont think it was worth the extra expence. I would like to start a poll about wether people thought it was worth the expence and if they would do it again. But I dont see that option (create a poll) on this forum. could someone do that for me or tell me how.
