Get a Phone Now or Wait?

Hi,

I was wondering if I should purchase a cell phone now or wait. The phone I would purchase would be the Koycera K10 Royal. The reasons:
-My friend has one and I like it
-It is only $19.99
-It is pay-as-you-go
-I like how you download media to the phone from the site
-It is pretty good
Now, the issue is this: My parents said that they would get me a phone after I do this thing they keep asking me to do. They said that they will pay for the phone (don't know if it will be my choice or not) and that they will pay for the service plan too. However, this thing won't happen until Fall most likely.

So, what should I do as I really do not know.

If the phone is only $20 and pay as you go, then just buy the phone now and have them get you another one in the fall
