Hey guys....

A common complaint among Android users is short battery life. As we all now, Google?s platform has numerous benefits, but state-of-the-art features and constantly being connected seem to come with one drawback: comparatively large battery consumption.

Do you feel like your Android Battery is running out so fast??? Have you ever thought that you need more battery life for your favorite Android??

Here is the Help!

1. Use the GPS Wisely
2. Turn off Bluetooth When You?re Not Using It
3. Disable Wireless Network Positioning
4. Kill 3G if Your Phone Often Struggles to Find It
5. Use Widgets Wisely

Not neceaarily, I'm running this kernel.

I was just testing one day and in a 24 hour period of sleep, with bluetooth on, only went down 18%. I have setcpu set high 998, low 245 on demand.

Now how do you go about "use widgets wisely", what widgets would eat the battery up? I heard there's a couple battery display widgets that do so which is ironic.

I keep GPS turned off as well as auto sync (I only have K9 mail sync) and auto wifi off when I'm out of the area from my known wifi networks and screen brightness to 40 or 50%, so 12 hours after full charge it's at around 50%, which is impressive. My Blackberries can't even last that long even with just about everything turned off, and Blackberries are supposed to be the best at battery life.

Most of the applications like media streaming and any application that uses the location service are widely known for eating you battery off.... I have just added a few tips here... rest can be accessed from the link provided....

It's not so much that Android phones are notorious for short battery life as smart phones are generally notorious for short battery life. It's just the way of things. Using widgets to keep battery draining settings, bluetooth etc., turned off while you're not using it is a good way to keep your battery lasting for as long as possible.

When I was buying my phone a lot of reviews complained about having to charge it every day, but mine managed over 48 hours just by leaving things turned off when I didn't need them.

well if i'm using maps then the gps is on but if i'm not using maps it doesn't run so there's no point in turning it off, i'd really like to see some data for these battery saving tips rather than the hearsay they seem to be based on.

best tip is to buy a spare battery if it's a problem, why buy a superphone and cripple it.

EXACTLY my feeling! I have always puzzled about all the comments to turn off this or that to save battery, yet those same people would complain loudly if this or that was not available on a certain model. I prefer to enjoy life and my phone to the fullest. An extra battery doesn't cost that much and only takes seconds to exchange. No one seems to use that "feature" very often.

Well, I know it's far from scientific but my battery did seem to drain a lot faster with the GPS left on. I guess it shouldn't though, so maybe I just imagined it. Besides, it's very little effort to turn it off whilst I'm not using it (hence why I mentioned having widgets for doing this), especially for mobile internet which will be doing stuff without me touching it.

Although a definitely agree a spare battery is the best solution. Even with everything turned off but the phone, smart phones use a lot of battery power. If you need GPS or mobile internet on for long periods of time it's certainly worthwhile.

Im gonna test this. My battery lasts all day on my rooted cm 6 rc3 droid overclocked to 800 mhz. I constantly check this forum, text, engadget app, and maybe 10 calls through out the day for a few minutes per call. I turn my wifi off or else it is constantly scanning (makes sense) and I have my gps off but never realized that it only was" on" if you were in an app that utilized it. So starting now, ill keep my gps on

The truth and fact is that if you leave things like wi-fi and background data on all the time, theses things absolutely kill your battery that is a fact. my captivate has sat idle for two days and never dropped below 98% battery life. I have also left all data on and wi-fi, left my phone on over night and killed the battery dead. The thing that kills your battery the most is your PHONE. Stupid apps and widgets generally are not doing anything while your phone is idle if you do have some kind of widget running, what is it?, and how important is it?, remove it. I fully recognize android phone are like a house pet, you want to play with it all day and have it do cool tricks but if you make it do tricks all day, it runs out of energy. These are all things that also make your phone slow and consume massive amounts of cpu recources.

Myy phones already down to 50% and its 2:50 pm here...and I forgot to turn the gps on...accidentally left the wifi on (3g isn't the best in my house so I have it on wifi while im home). But I had class earlier so I was on my phone checking this forum...all the stuff Ive already mentioned that is part of my routine. So today was a not so good day for my battery :/

Map is not the only application that uses the GPS service. There are a lot of applications and games that make uses of the location services.

Yes, having a back up battery would solve the problem... But you are carrying a smart phone and people would laugh at you seeing replacing the batteries on the way or in theaters....

Ok...having the back ground data off is a life saver. I've been sitting through 2 long orientations today and have been on my phone more than usual and im at 40%...im honestly impressed
