Gervais'......The Invention Of Lying (1 Star Empire Magazine)

lol, how long did it take you to trawl back through my previous posts to find something I had said before.

I still say it's the worst film I have ever seen, and yes, I am insulting all involved in the making of it.

So go find another old post of mine and try and come up with something else. Because at the end of the day the film was rubbish!

Maybe in the future I should lie when I post here and say all films are brilliant incase I upset Gervais lovers

This is the same magazine that gave Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen 3/5.

Not looking forward to this film anyway, the premise has no draw for me.

Hope Gervais can get back to cutting edge, back-to-basics comedy soon.

It undermines the integrity of the magazine for a reviewer to give a film one star simply because he does not like the star, which is what I believe has happened with the Empire review.

I give up  No I haven't sat through worse then this. Why would I lie to you? I don't know you.

Just so you know, the worst film I had ever seen before this was Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Now I honestly give up with constantly saying the same thing to you just because you think you know me when you don't. So for the sake of this thread, I'm out.

There;s a few Saturday Night Live comedians in this that are hilarious so i wanna see it. Most of these movie critics get it wrong anyway, wouldn't put me off seeing it like.

That's what I like, a little late-night mind reading.
Instead of calling out Nostradamus or preventing World War III by concentrating very hard on the Korean president's mind with it, we're sat around in our underpants in the small hours using it to prove a point while throwing crisps and empty Heroes wrappers at the screen.
Providence, you can count on us.

No WAY!
Bill & Ted can't be the worst film because it doesn't take itself seriously enough.
Heinous, dude!
DIDDIDDLYDIDDLYDI# - EXCELLENT!

I think Cemetery Junction will be a better film than this, but the concept is just so silly it could be a titter.

Oh and as for Ricky Gervais being "up his own arse"... That in itself is supposed to be a character, apparently he is actually quite a humble guy. Believe it or not.

Or perhaps it's just a sign that if Hollywood is prepared to pay Gervais a load of money to star opposite Jennifer Garner in a mediocre film then he is smart enough to not refuse.

I'd give it, 2/5.

It started off well, but was slightly odd. I found the insults towarRAB his character got boring. Sure people don't lie, but why do they need to say anything at all?

It then got dull, then his made that big lie and it got slightly better, then it got shit again and I found myself dozing off - then I perked up slightly at the end. Overall I felt the film was going nowhere and it didn't even know what direction it was going.

Hmmm...

A few people walked out and some others were asleep. :p

Finally ran out of excuses not to see this movie last night. That's 2 hours I will never get back.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Ricky Gervais. When I lived in the USA I used to listen to his XFM show online, and it's still one of the most laugh out loud things I have ever heard. His podcasts were excellent, and so too, obviously, were The Office and Extras.

Unfortunately all his other stuff is significantly less funny that what I have just mentioned, and there is only one reason for this... the Lack of Steve Merchant's writing genius.

Most disappointing. Hopefully Cemetary Junction will be a marked improvement.

Well I really enjoyed it, and, as an RE teacher, will be getting the DVD just for the scene where he 'reveals' all about the man in the sky. Should spark off some interesting discussions in class about the nature of religion.
