Its really freaking me out now!

GERD is basically just chronic acid reflux. There is an entire board on this subject. Lots of information there and people to answer any questions you may have.

GERD stands for Gastroesophageal reflux disease. When acid and sometimes bile come back from your stomach into your esophagus on a regular basis it can cause irritation to your esophaugs and sometimes your throat. It sounds like your doctor is checking to see if you have any damage from your GERD. Not everyone with GERD shows signs of damage though. That doesn't mean your symptoms aren't unpleasant though.

Hopefully your doctor talked to you about making changes to your diet and making some lifestyle changes. That is the first step to addressing the reflux. Next comes OTC or prescription medication. Those steps really do help the majority of people. There is no "quick fix" though. Many people find it takes weeks or months to get relief. You need to heal the damage the reflux has done and that takes a while.

Thanks for your reply. trouble is I dont get much reflux? only ocaccionaly, maybe once a week or even less!
Could it still be gerd?
Reason I went to ENT was this sore raised part of my throat and he said it could be acid burning my throat, does that happen with GERD?
Im at a loss now as to what it might be.

LPR is often called "silent reflux". You can be refluxing regularly without really even knowing it. Most of the time with LPR, you won't have any heartburn type symptoms. The acid comes up into the throat so quickly that it doesn't always cause any symptoms or damage in the esophagus. Sore throat, coughing and trouble swallowing are all reflux symptoms though. It takes very little acid to cause a lot of irritation in the throat. Not all doctors actually diagnose LPR. Frequently they just lump everything under GERD.

I have extremely severe reflux, verified through the Barium testing, pH monitoring and Manometry. I never had heartburn though. In my case, it was lung irritation causing a chronic cough and trouble breathing.

If it is LPR that you have, typically you need to take PPI's twice a day to really see any relief.
