Hi everyone, I live in forsyth county Georgia and I am looking for a pain management specialist and a neurosurgeon..i have had two lurabar spine surgeries and I am prepping for a third. I am new to Georgia and I need to find a doctor that I can trust. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Also, any advice on who to stay away from would be welcomed! Thank you in advance.

I know Emory has a pain management clinic, anyone know if they're good?
I have also seen billboarRAB all over the place for Spine Care & Pain management which has several locations - Any input?
PLEASE HELP!!

I see you r in Georgia and not familiar with the docs.. If u r willing to travel 2 see a neurosurgeon for a 3rd surgery then I know a great group.. They r Carolina Neurosurgery in Charlotte NC.. Its about 3.5 hours up I-85.. They do all the surgerys on the Carolina Panthers and the Nascar teams.. I was there last week although Im only 45 mins away but talked to several people from VA and NC/TN mountains which is 3 hrs away.. They have a upright MRI machine and u see the surgeon 1 hr latero u dont need 2 come back.. They do all their surgeries at CMC in Charlotte which is a level 3 trauma hospital and one of the best in the USA.. I am scheduled for a discogram 12-15 and a PLIF in January if the discogram is positive.. Since u have had 2 prior surgerys as my wife has u will find out right away if one is needed.. My wife had her first 2 at another group but wishes that Dr. Mark Smith at CNS had did them due to the sucess he has had.. I know it would be a long drive but may be worth it.. Im sure Atlanta has some great docs but i am only going on what I know.. I would drive or fly to California if I knew the issues I had would be fixed by a great doctor.. Either way I hope u find a doc and get your back issues taken care of.. Please let me know if u have any questions

Peachtree Neurosurgery is whom I was recommended to. I think there are 4 or 5 doctors there. I went for a second & third opinion to try to avoid surgery as long as I could. They set me up with pain Mgmt docs and I have been impressed so far. Good Luck

Thanks Phil.. I don't think I'll be able to travel that far :( I have an open workers comp case from a different state and I'm struggling just to get any treatment authorized for Georgia. My neurosurgeon from CT wants me to see a pain management dr. here in GA until we can get surgery approved through workers comp. This has been dragging on forever! My Dr. said I needed surgery back in April and I'm still waiting for approval. The only thing workers comp is worried about is trying to stop my benefits because I had to move out of state. I have had every test under the sun and it's all there in black and white - I have a failed fusion (L3-S1) and a bad disc at L3/L4 and a compressed nerve at S1. The pain is unbearable ~ but I'm stuck in all of this red tape with workers comp. And don't even get me started with the IME dr.!!!! UGHHHHH Sorry for rarabling. But thanks again.

Thank you for the info.. I really appreciate it. I just called Emory and they are willing to work with me with an open workers comp case from another state. So hopefully I can get some help soon or I'm gonna loose it...

hi tyler-- there are some good pain management dr's in stockbridge georgia..
Dr Galan is one, and Dr Brice Choi (south atlanta neurology and pain clinic) is another. choi is both a neurologist and pain managment dr. he also does acupuncture, has his own mri machine & techs, nerve conduction test machine, and fluoroscopy machine for spinal injections. this is the only clinic i can afford to go to, as when he does an mri, ncv test or spinal injections- all i have to pay is $25 co pay. any other pain dr or ortho, i have to meet a $1000 deductible per year deductible for mri etc, and also have to pay about $150 per injection. only downside to dr choi's office, he is the only dr there. he is very good with the needles & knows what he is doing, and unless he has an emergency treatment come in, he is pretty punctual. usually, ya dont have to wait forever in the front or back office.
