George Lucas is detroying franchises. STOP HIM!!

With Ford it's a no-brainer, he's not had a hit film for donkeys years so he's going back to the hits for some pay checks before retiring. He always was a mopey old git.

As for SS, that's a bit more difficult. I can only imagine he wanted another smash on his hanRAB, not having had one (I don't think) in the naughties. Long gone are his blockbusting, popcorn days of JP etc. Perhaps he wants his name back at the top of the box office list?

GL seems to be driven by greed, but I'm not so sure it's entirely money. The Star Wars series is fine by me, all fans want to see the Clone Wars and he's delivering it to us. Why he went for Indy 4 and not a THX type film, though, remains to be seen...perhaps it's next?

Eh? Apart from GL not being a writer, I hope you aren't comparing Rowling with Dickens (or even the bard, whom I personally don't care for that much). They aren't even on the same planet and in 100 years (even 10 years) people will not be still reading Rowling.

Not defending Lucas or anything but he co-wrote the story (basic outline) for the latest Indy, not the screenplay which was written by David Koepp who also did the first two Jurassic Parks and War of the WorlRAB with Spielberg

Lucas, of course, did veto the Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption) script, delaying everything by a year and handing the gig to Koepp.

That said, parts of it are reaaal old. The nuclear test/fridge scene (and even the "I've got a bad feeling about this" gag) were in the 1995 Jeb Stuart (The Fugitive, Die Hard) script for Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men from Mars.
