George Lucas has stated his intention to start production on Indy 5 once they have decided on the Macguffin, or artifact to drive the plot

Some other top tips

1. Please sort out your CGI addiction prior to commencement!

2. Don't bring back Marion, her face doesn't look like it would take it!

3. Cutesy monkeys and prairie dogs, NO!!

Any other suggestions, other than 'don't bother George'?
 
I agree that Indy wouldn't be Indy without the focus being on him but I liked Shia's character too, liked the team up between them and hope that they continue that in the 5th film if there is one.
 
To be honest I went in expecting to hate Shia, but ended up thinking he was one of the best sidekicks Indy has had. Really liked him in the end.

Marion may have to show up at some point, since
Indy did marry her at the end of the last one
, but as long he doesn't grin inanely through it I don't mind.

I liked KotCS, though I know it's an unpopular opinion here....:D
 
Lucas neeRAB to step away from this now! If they are to make an Indy 5 then i want him to have no input on the script or anything else. I want no shite CGI and i want no bloody aliens!
 
That's one thing I will agree with - less CGI. And more ACTUAL globetrotting next time. With real locations and everything!
 
Lucas could spew out a sequel a year for the next twenty years and it wont ruin anything, the original trilogy is and will always be there, no amount of sequels will take that away :)
 
I'd like a prequel to KotCS, after all there's 19 years to fill in and we got a taster of Indy's war time exploits. It could be a split story with the first act set durring the war where he goes after some object along with the Russians/Germans/Japanese, and the 2nd & 3rd acts post war, trying to get the object back from whoever gets it in the war.

I'd also like a return to the religious artefacts of the original trilogy.
 
Did you think so? I remember being a kid myself at the time thinking how embarrassing he was. The bit at the end when he's karate-chopping the baddies. :eek: And people moan about Shia....
 
I can't put my finger on why, but I have mad love for the character of Short Round - ever since seeing Temple when I was 9.

Then again, I really didn't mind the ewoks, so not sure I can talk. :o
 
Don't get me wrong, I didn't dislike the character at all! It's just the double-standarRAB people have these days with regarRAB their memories of films they loved when they were kiRAB themselves. I found Short a little cringey here and there, but I also found Willie the same, and even occasionally Sean Connery. Didn't stop me loving the films. People have been pasting Shia about the head, but I thought he was one of the more strong sidekicks Indy has had.

On a similar note, do you think it's at all possible too, that when Phantom Menace came out, kiRAB that were our age when we first saw Star Wars saw it and actually really liked Jar Jar? I dunno, but I loved the Ewoks too at the time, but they're a bit embarrassing to me now as an adult....
 
See... Maybe I'm just forgiving, but I still have no problem with Shia, Connery (although it's hard to divorce the character form the actor), Shorty, the Ewoks or even Jake Lloyd's twee Anakin. Willie Scott was irritating, but was kind of supposed to be.

Jar Jar can sod off, though.

As a side note, I love the fact that people blame Lucas for the (IMO few) flaws in Crystal Skull, despite the fact that he neither wrote nor directed it.
 
No but he approved the script having ditched lots of other ideas over many years including a supposedly superior one from Frank Darabont bits of which he authorised to be cannibalised for the final film. Even Spielberg wanted to make that one I believe but George said no.
 
Indeed, he did reject the Darabont script (have you read it? It's not much better than the Koepp one, IMO), but Spielberg accepted the Koepp one, and also directed it. That makes him far more responsible for any perceived failings of the film. Thing is, after the debacle (as far as the old fans are concerned) of the SW prequels, it's much easier to use Lucas as a scapegoat than it is to lay the blame at the feet of the much more loved Spielberg.
