George Lucas.......A great director? COUGH

This has nothing to do with Star Wars, but for some reason I've got the song "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead" going through my head! :)

Watched all three this week and I have to say that my opinion of the series has changed dramatically.

Still love ANH a lot, despite the completely out of place Mos Eisley opening CGI.

It was ESB that surprised me the most. I always used to think this was the best, but now I'm not sure. I really don't think that the pacing of the film is right. It starts well, with the initial battle sequence on Hoth, but after that it gets very slow for a very long time. In fact there is no climax to the film and I think that is it's major flaw. Once you know the "I am your father" cliffhanger, the film somehow loses its appeal. "You mean I had to sit through all that Dagobah whining and asteroid field boredom just for this?".

RotJ is now officially my favourite SW movie. Flame away. I like the ewoks. I like the fact that the Endor sequence is obviously a commentary on Vietnam. I like the dark side of Luke we see; the fact that he's no longer a whining little girl that annoys you. The grand climax space battle is superb as well. In fact, the only thing that bugged me about RotJ was the length of Mon Mothma's neck! Watch it yourself - it's like a giraffe's.

Thepuffin ROTJ has been my fave film for a long time. I know some people don't like the Ewoks but I don't mind them at all. The films is done so well in my opinion and everything fits together great.

I still love ANH and ESB also.
