Geometry Help! Find the area of the shaded region?

I dont understand these at all. I got the first two problems but now these two are confusing me.
Can you help?
Its number 28. and number 30.

So the directions are "find the area of the shaded region." the shaded region is the yellow.
 
28) Think of it as having a sheet of paper and cutting out 4 circles; the shaded area is scraps left over.
1. Find the area of the square 20 * 20
2. Each of the circles has a radius of 5 inches. Work out the area of each one, then multiply by 4.
3. Subtract the answer you got in step 2 from the answer in step 1 and you have the shaded area.
