I just got a r/x for the generic form of Benzamycin - its Erythromycin and Benzoyl Peroxide. Anyone out there have any experiences with this?

Im a 31 year old female and over the course of the last 6 months or so, I've developed major acne. Don't know why or how - can't think of anything that's changed that could be causing it.

I've been trying everything lately and nothing does anything to help. Tried ProActive twice in the past - didn't do anything either time. I've tried countless over the counter products and I recently went to Sephora and tried acne kits from Cosmedicine and Boscia, and a sulphur mask from Dermadoctor - still no results - if anything, it's getting worse.

I saw my primary care doc today and she said to try this. Here goes......

Any thoughts or personal expereinces are much appreciated!

I used it in the past and had some improvement, but stopped because skin was irritated. Adult female acne can be more complicated than treating males. Have you ruled out any hormonal issues/irabalances? I would try to find a competent dermatologist that has experience with treating adult female acne. A lot of these doctors just throw around prescriptions that we all see on infomercials but few have experience in actually tailoring proper treatment regimen.

Over the counter option, I'd recommend Dan Kern 2.5% bezoyl peroxide cream and the moisturizer. (A lot of people try 5% or 10% bezoyl peroxide and give up after a month because it irritates their skin badly. 2.5% BP works just as well when it is applied consistently 2 times a day with good moisturizer. A rule of thurab for acne treatment products is 3 months. If you don't see improvement after 3 months, switch treatment.
